How to self prone?
Dr. Ilan Lieberman is the medical director at Levitex. Over the past year, he has been working on the front line with the team at Wythenshawe Hospital, in the fight against Covid-19. We are so proud of him and all the other doctors and nurses across the UK.
As Dr. Lieberman continues to work tirelessly in the Intensive Care Unit, he has told us that one of the critical interventions being used to help patients with coronavirus is the use of pillows to position them in prone.
We quickly realised that our pillows’ pressure relieving abilities are perfect for proning, and we wanted to help! Therefore, we have donated more than a hundred of our Levitex pillows to ICUs across the North West region.
Using his experience in ICUs, Ilan has put together a how-to guide and a short video for us about self-proning, covering the best way to self-prone.
Self-proning at home
Dr. Ilan has produced two short videos on how to self-prone in your own home. This guide will be particularly beneficial if you are having breathing difficulties due to symptoms of coronavirus Covid-19.
We have also produced a downloadable booklet of his self-proning advice, adapted from his work in ICUs. This might help you alleviate your symptoms if you are struggling to breathe due to Covid-19.

“We’ve seen clear evidence of success in using proning – a technique that is more commonly used for patients with pneumonia and on ventilators – in the fight against COVID-19.”
